Midjourney Statistics: Users, Revenue & Growth
Midjourney: ~19.83M registered users (Jan 2026), ~$500M revenue in 2025 (up 66.7% from $300M in 2024), 1.2–2.5M daily active users, 26.8% user-preference market share. Bootstrapped with ~107 employees.
Midjourney is the highest-grossing standalone AI image generator. The company reached roughly $500 million in annual revenue in 2025 with around 107 employees and no venture funding, making it one of the most capital-efficient software businesses ever built. Its Discord server remains the largest on the platform, and its user-preference share leads every survey of AI image tools.
Key statistics
Midjourney counted approximately 19.83 million registered users as of January 2026, up from 16.4 million in 2023. The figure excludes anonymous trial accounts.
Estimated 2025 revenue of roughly $500 million, up about 66.7% from $300 million in 2024 - all from subscriptions, with no traditional marketing spend.
Midjourney leads AI image generator preference surveys at 26.8%, ahead of DALL·E (24.4%), NightCafe (23.2%), and Stable Diffusion (15.1%).
Daily active users fluctuate between 1.2 and 2.5 million, with peaks aligned to major model releases such as V8.
Midjourney is fully bootstrapped. It reached a reported multibillion-dollar implied valuation without raising venture capital - an outlier among consumer AI companies at this scale.
With roughly 107 employees and ~$500M revenue, Midjourney generates over $4.6 million in revenue per employee - among the highest ratios in software.
Midjourney revenue and users by year
Midjourney grew revenue 10x in three years: $50M (2022), $200M (2023), $300M (2024), ~$500M (2025). User growth was slower at roughly 21% per year, meaning revenue per user has been rising, not falling.
| Year | Revenue | YoY growth | Registered users | Revenue per registered user |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $50M | launch year | ~13.5M | ~$3.70 |
| 2023 | $200M | +300% | 16.4M | ~$12.20 |
| 2024 | $300M | +50% | ~17.5M (est.) | ~$17.10 |

How fast has Midjourney revenue grown?
Midjourney went from $50 million revenue in its 2022 launch year to roughly $500 million in 2025 - a 10x increase in three years, funded entirely by subscriptions.
First-year revenue after launching in July 2022. Midjourney hit its first million users within six months.
A 300% year-over-year increase, achieved with roughly 100 employees and Discord as the only interface.
Revenue grew 50% in 2024 as the standalone web editor reduced dependence on Discord.
The jump from $300M to ~$500M represents Midjourney’s reacceleration after web app rollout and the V7 release cycle.
How many images have Midjourney users created?
Everypixel Journal’s baseline analysis attributed roughly 964 million cumulative images to Midjourney users by August 2023; at 2024–2026 daily-active levels the cumulative total is estimated well into the billions.
Everypixel Journal’s widely cited 2023 analysis counted ~964 million Midjourney images, versus ~916 million for DALL·E 2 at the same time.
Industry estimates put Midjourney’s output at over 10 million images per day in 2024, second only to the Stable Diffusion open-source ecosystem.
Midjourney V8 Alpha (March 17, 2026) renders roughly five times faster than V7, completing in under 10 seconds what previously took 30–60 seconds, with native 2K HD output.
Midjourney’s site drew over 16.22 million unique visitors monthly, with the United States contributing ~17.2% of traffic, followed by India and Brazil.
How we compiled this data
We cross-referenced six independent trackers (TechRT, GetLatka, CB Insights, DemandSage, SQ Magazine, Everypixel Journal) and Midjourney’s own public statements, keeping only figures confirmed by at least two sources. Revenue-per-employee and revenue-per-user ratios are our own calculations from those base figures. Where sources disagreed (2024 revenue estimates ranged $300M to $330M), we used the lower, more widely corroborated figure. Last full review: June 12, 2026.
Before you cite these numbers
- Midjourney is private and bootstrapped, so there are no audited financials. All revenue figures are estimates triangulated from interviews, subscription-tier analysis, and third-party trackers, not SEC filings.
- Registered users (19.83M) is not the same as active users. Daily actives run 1.2M to 2.5M, so quoting 19.83M as "Midjourney users" overstates real engagement by roughly 8 to 16x.
- The 26.8% market share is a user-preference survey result, not a revenue or volume share. By image volume, the open-source Stable Diffusion ecosystem produces far more images than Midjourney.
- The 964M cumulative image count is an August 2023 baseline. No reliable post-2023 cumulative count exists; treat any larger figure you see elsewhere as an extrapolation.
